Day-by-Day Journey 

Day 1: Arrival in Ghana – Akwaaba!
Touch down at Kotoka International Airport, where your guide greets you with a warm Ghanaian welcome. Depending on your arrival time, light snacks will be served before heading to your hotel to settle in. In the evening, you will enjoy a lively welcome dinner and drinks. This will be a perfect introduction to your Ghanaian adventure.

Day 2: Explore Accra – Ghana’s Vibrant Capital
Your first full day begins in bustling Accra. Stand beneath the Black Star Arch at Independence Square, visit the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, the national musuem and wander through Makola Market, where bright fabrics and the sounds of trade fill the air.  From here, we will drive back to accommodation where we have some downtime. In the evening, we will dive into Accra’s exciting nightlife.

Day 3: Explore Aburi Botanical Gardens & Asenema Waterfalls
Shortly after breakfast, we will escape the city and head to the lush Eastern hills. We will make our first stop at the Aburi Botanical Gardens where we discover African plants and herbs with their cultural and medicinal uses. From here, we will continue to the picturesque Asenema Waterfalls for a refreshing moment in nature before returning to Accra for a relaxed evening that may include bar-hopping, depending on the group’s vibe. We will have lunch enroute our return to Accra.

Day 4: Drive to Assin Manso Slave River & Elmina Castle
Today, we will journey to Ghana’s Central Region, stopping at Assin Manso, the site where enslaved Africans took their last bath before being marched to the coast. We will walk barefoot to the Slave River as part of the “reverential walk of return,” reconnecting with ancestral roots. From here, we will drive to Elmina, Ghana's tip most historical town. We will have lunch and visit the Elmina Castle, the oldest and largest European building in existence below the sub saharan. From here, we will drive to either our beachfront or hilltop accommodation.

Day 5: Vist Cape Coast Castle(optional) & Kakum Rainforest
We will have a relaxing morning and later begin the day at Cape Coast Castle, where the Door of No Return echoes with powerful history. Afterwards, we will drive to Kakum National Park where we immerse ourselves in the natural beauty and experience one of the world’s few canopy walkways, suspended high above the rainforest floor.

Day 6: Naming Ceremony & New Year’s Eve in Accra
In the morning, take part in a traditional Ghanaian naming ceremony at a chief’s palace. This is a symbolic ritual connecting you to the land and its people. Later, return to Accra for the ultimate celebration: a New Year’s Eve party with fireworks lighting up the Ghanaian sky.

Day 7: Rest & Relaxation

We will have a full day or rest and relaxation.

Day 8: Fly to Kumasi – The Land of Kings
We will join a morning flight to Kumasi, the cultural capital of the Ashanti Kingdom. We will visit the Bonwire Kente village, the birthplace of Ghana’s iconic Kente cloth, and learn about the weaving traditions that carry deep cultural meanings. From here, we will visit the Atonso craft village where we learning about deep meaning of the Adinkra symbols. We will have lunch and check in our accommodation. Kumasi is a vibrant city and based on how you feel, we will go out to experience nightlife in Kumasi.

Day 9: Explore Kumasi – Ashanti Heritage
Shortly after breakfast, we will be immersed in the history of the Ashanti Empire. We will visit the Manhyia Palace Museum, the seat of Ashanti kings, and witness the Okomfo Anokye Sword Site, a symbol of unity that has remained immovable for over 400 years. Later, lose yourself in the vibrant Kejetia Market. West Africa’s largest open-air marketplace. We will have lunch and fly back to Accra. Arriving in Accra,  we will visit the Arts Center for National Culture, a colourful hub of Ghanaian crafts, beads, fabrics, and carvings. In the evening, we will gather for a special farewell dinner to celebrate the friendships and memories you’ve made throughout your journey.

Day 10: Departure 
Enjoy a relaxed morning at your hotel. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for last-minute shopping or leisure. Your guide will ensure a smooth transfer to the airport, sending you off with unforgettable memories of your Detty December adventure.
