We had a great day exploring learning about NaNa Kobina, going to learn about cape coast castle , listening to the history being told at Alamina castle and hiking in the Kakum national park. Nana was very attentive to everyone’s needs as we were on our tour. Nana is very knowledgeable about all the history. On the 3 or 4 hour drive to get to the activities he told us history on a lot of things. 

Nana has such a warm personality and highly motivated guide (recommendable!). My sisters and I enjoyed hiking up to the Kakum national park to reach the 6 bridges.The lunch (full plate of food) at the end was a delight and good it was a great way to end the tour. 

Nana made sure everyone in our group felt safe and informed on the days events.

The beautiful waterfalls, scenes at the Mole National Park, conversations in the Asante villages, and resorts were some places and experiences I’ll never forget. My wife and I felt safe throughout our entire stay and would recommend anyone interested in authentically engaging with a natural leader and servant to travel with Nana. His professionalism is unmatched along with his genuine love for his country, his fellow Ghanaians and those who travel with him. The agenda of my trip was around black culture, history and nature. From the Slave Dungeons and River, to the Mausoleum of Kwame Nkrumah or the Kakum National Park. I was introduced to Nana via Melanin Travels Magic, a tour operator, who were able to accurately recommend him to me when I told them my agenda and expectations.

  We spent 14 great days with Nana and his friends in Ghana. Although we did not originally book our trip with Freelancenana and only got in touch with Nana shortly... read more before our arrival, he managed to work everything around and make our trip unforgettable. Nana was able to flexibly rearrange our poorly prepared itinerary and, thanks to his expertise, we were able to see much more places than planned.

All tour guides and drivers that Nana works with are very nice people and took a good care of us. We had a chance to spend 5 amazing days on a road trip through south and western region with a driver Jeff who was a great companion! Both, Nana and Jeff, were so entertaining and friendly, they were keen to respond all our curious questions, explain everything about Ghana and the Ghanian culture. We had so much fun together, especially when we came across our cultural differences regarding drinking a beer! We have almost convinced Nana before the end of our stay to join our “foam team” but he was very resistant claiming that a foam is only good for cleaning the floor 😀 Well, we still need to work on this when we meet again! 🙂

Our tour guide, Thompson, was with us the whole trip and made sure we were well taken care of. He gave us an outstanding personal tour that exceeded all my expectations! He was a brilliant ambassador for his country, very knowledgeable, warm, organized and honest. He is extremely amiable and takes pride in his work and in the community that he serves. We were lucky to have him to gain such an insight into the history and culture of Ghana. He was quick to accommodate our requests as well as needed changes in the itinerary. Most of all, he was great company and we thoroughly enjoyed our time together. Thompson is also the founder of Creating Smiles Foundation, an NGO, which distributes stationery to underprivileged children and food to street kids.

The itinerary arranged for us included so many wonderful things- First, we toured Accra and visited must-see landmarks like the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and the W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial. We also went to Accra’s Art Centre, where Thomson helped us haggle. We crossed the Kakum National Park’s canopy walkway for a view of the wildlife and landscape; gained insight into the history of the Ashanti Kingdom and the Slave River and drove to Elmina and Cape Coast Castle to learn about the thought-provoking history of the transatlantic slave trade. We saw a variety of crafts, from learning how to play the drums, cook African food to Kente cloth making.

Nana was beyond amazing - he picked us up from Accra, accommodated our last minute plans to have a work meeting in the middle of our trip and even sat in 40 mins of traffic as a favour to give us a lift to the client offices!
And the tours - better than any I’ve ever done! Nana knows the locals everywhere and so makes sure you meet local guides, meet the local historians and go to off-the-beaten track places. Our cooking lesson - we went to a local market to haggle and Muska helped us haggle like the locals, then we went to his home to cook this amazing meal and met his family & friends for an absolute feast!
Then our trip to Volta was so fun - packed with wonderful waterfalls and Nana made sure to get bananas for the monkeys ahead of time, took us to the local restaurants which I wouldn’t be able to get to myself without Nana. He then gave us a lift all the way to the airport which was ever so kind.
