Experience Ghana on this immersive 10-day cultural and coastal journey. From Accra鈥檚 historic landmarks and vibrant nightlife to the rainforest canopy walk at Kakum and the powerful history of Elmina Castle, this tour blends heritage, nature, and authentic experiences. Travel west to Ghana鈥檚 stunning Western Region, where pristine beaches, eco-luxury stays, coastal forts, mangrove canoe rides, traditional cooking classes, and the iconic stilt village of Nzulenzu await. Once you arrive in Ghana, you will go through and complete immigration formalities. Upon exit, you will meet your local guide and enjoy a smooth transfer to your hotel. Guests arriving in the evening will be welcomed with light refreshments before check-in. After check-in, we will experience a special traditional welcome ceremony with drinks and dinner, This is an authentic introduction to Ghanaian culture and hospitality.
Day 2: Accra City & Historical Tour
Shortly after breakfast, we will explore Ghana鈥檚 capital city with visits to the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, National Museum, Independence Square, and Black Star Arch. After lunch, continue to the W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre, learning about Ghana鈥檚 role in Pan-African history. We will return to the hotel before dark, have some downtime and prepare for our first nightlife experience.
Day 3: Drive to Elmina via Kakum Canopy Walk & Rainforest
After breakfast, we depart for Ghana鈥檚 Central Region. Our first stop is the Kakum National Park, home to one of the few canopy walkways in the world. Here, we will walk high above the forest floor, explore the lush rainforest, and enjoy breathtaking views of the natural environment. From Kakum, we continue to Elmina, where we will have lunch before visiting the Elmina Castle Slave Dungeons, the oldest European structure in sub-Saharan Africa. This powerful visit offers deep insight into Ghana鈥檚 history and the transatlantic slave trade. Later in the day, we will enjoy a boat cruise before checking into our accommodation for the night to rest and unwind.
Day 4: Drive to Ghana鈥檚 Western Region 鈥 Beachside Escape
Today, we journey to Ghana鈥檚 Western Region, making a stop at Busua Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the country. Upon arrival, we will check into our beachfront accommodation, where the rest of the day is dedicated to relaxation. This is an easy, laid-back day to unwind by the ocean, enjoy the sea breeze, and reset as we prepare for the exciting days ahead.
Day 5: Relax, Cook & Explore Coastal History
Today starts with a relaxed morning by the coast. Later, we enjoy a hands-on traditional Ghanaian cooking class, using fresh seafood from the local market. Together, we鈥檒l prepare fish, lobster, and other local ingredients and share the meal we create for lunch.
In the afternoon, we visit Fort Metal Cross in Dixcove, where we learn about the coastal trading posts and their role during the transatlantic slave trade. A perfect blend of relaxation, culture, and history.
Day 6: Drive to Akwidaa, Birdwatching and Cape Three Points
Today, we journey further west into Ghana鈥檚 Western Region. Our first stop is the coastal village of Akwidaa, where we explore the community and visit the rubber plantations, learning about their importance to the local people and the role they play in the area鈥檚 economy. We will go on a dugout canoe tour on the magroves where we will have the chance to spot different species of African birds.
From here, we continue to Cape Three Points, the southernmost point of Ghana, where we explore the historic Cape Three Points Lighthouse and take in stunning coastal views.
We will then enjoy lunch at a beachside location, check into our accommodation, and spend the night by the ocean, relaxing to the sounds of the sea.
Day 7: Drive to Princess Town, Axim Fort and Bobowasi Island
Today, we drive to Princes Town, where we visit the historic Fort Groot Fredericksburg and learn about the rich history of the area. From here, we continue further west, making a stop in the coastal town of Axim.
In Axim, we explore Fort St. Anthony and visit Bobowasi Island, taking in the natural beauty and historical significance of the area. After the tour, we continue to our luxury eco-beach accommodation, where we check in and spend the night at LouMoon Beach Resort
Day 8: Day Trip To Nzulenzu
Shortly after breakfast, we will depart for the historic village of Nzulezu. Upon arrival, we will take a dugout canoe ride to the village, where we鈥檒l learn about the history and way of life of the people. After this enriching experience, we鈥檒l enjoy lunch and then return to our accommodation.
Day 9: Drive to Accra. Arts, Souvenirs & Farewell Celebration
We will visit the Accra Arts Centre for souvenir shopping and cultural crafts. We will have the opportunity to make our last shopping for friends and families back home. In the evening, we will have a farewell ceremony, celebrating the journey, connections made, and shared experiences. We will also congratulate ourselves for taking this trip.
Day 10: Departure
Based on your depature time, we will transfer and drop you off to the airport to enable you catch your flight with no stress. This will mark the end of the Northern Nomad Adventures experience and we hope to see you again for different other adventures.
