Day 1: Arrival in Ghana 鈥 Akwaaba!
Arrive at Kotoka International Airport where your guide greets you with a heartfelt Akwaaba welcome. Enjoy light snacks before checking into your hotel to relax after your journey. In the evening, gather for a festive welcome dinner, meeting your fellow travelers and enjoying your first taste of Ghana.
Day 2: Explore Accra 鈥 Ghana鈥檚 Vibrant Capital
Your journey begins in Accra, a city alive with energy, history, and culture. We will vist the Independence Square and the Black Star Arch, symbols of Ghana鈥檚 freedom. We will also visit the National Museum to explore centuries of art and heritage. From here, we will visit the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and wander through Makola Market, where the colors of fabrics and the buzz of trade create a sensory overload. We will drive to the hotel and have some downtime. After a rest, we will experience Accra鈥檚 lively nightlife.
Day 3: Lake Volta Adventure
Today, we travel east to the Shai Hills Resource Reserve for wildlife viewing and cave exploration. We then continue to the Volta Lake for a scenic cruise on Lake Volta the largest man-made lake in the world. After lunch by the lake, we will visit Trident Island for kayaking and abseiling adventures before settling into our lakeside accommodation.
Day 4: Wli Waterfalls, Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary & Mount Afadjato
We journey into the Agumatsa Ranges where we visit Mount Afadjato, Ghana鈥檚 highest peak. After the hike, we continue to Wli Waterfalls, the tallest waterfall in West Africa. You will have the oppourtuinity to swim in the plunge pools (optional and supervised). We check into our lodge nearby for the evening. Enroute, we will stop at the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary where we have direct interaction with the Mona Monkeys
Day 5: Kyabobo National Park
After breakfast, we drive to Kyabobo National Park, known for its beautiful mountain viewpoints and rare wildlife species. We will explore selected trails, learn about the region from local guides, and enjoy nature. We will have an evening rest at the lodge.
Day 6: Depart for Tamale
Today, we journey to Tamale, the cultural capital of Northern Ghana. Upon arrival, we will visit the Red Clay Museum (Red Clay Studio) which is a creative art space founded by celebrated Ghanaian artis featuring outdoor installations, contemporary art pieces, and unique architectural designs built from the region鈥檚 red earth. After our visit, we will check into our accommodation and head out to explore Tamale鈥檚 vibrant cultural scene, including the local market and artisan craft centres. In the evening, we will enjoy dinner featuring traditional northern dishes before returning to the hotel to rest.
Day 7: Shea Butter Experience
This morning, we join a women鈥檚 cooperative to learn how shea butter is produced from nut harvesting to processing. Participants may join in non-hazardous steps of the process. We return to the accommodation after lunch for free time.
Day 8: Tengzug Shrine Rocks & Paga Crocodile Pond
We will drive to the Upper East Region and visit the Tengzug Shrine Rocks in the Tongo Hills, exploring caves, rock formations, and the spiritual history of the area. From here, we will continue to Paga to learn about the unique coexistence between the community and the sacred crocodiles.
Day 9: Wechiau Hippopotamus Sanctuary
We travel to the Wechiau Community Hippo Sanctuary, located along the Black Volta River. With trained guides, we will go on a canoe ride (with safety equipment) to observe hippos in their natural habitat.
Day 10: Arrival in Mole National Park
Depart for Mole National Park, Ghana鈥檚 largest wildlife reserve. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge and enjoy a relaxed afternoon surrounded by nature, preparing for the safari experiences ahead.
Day 11: Mole Safari & Larabanga
We begin the day with a guided jeep safari in Mole National Park to observe elephants and other wildlife. After breakfast, we relax at the lodge pool. In the afternoon, we visit the Larabanga Ancient Mosque and Mystic Stone and take a guided community walk for a cultural experience. Return to the lodge for an evening safari (optional).
Day 12: Rest Day / Eco-Village Option
Today is a day of rest and reflection. Guests may enjoy the lodge facilities or take an optional visit to the Mognori Eco-Village for a canoe experience and cultural interaction. Return to the lodge for dinner and sunset views.
Day 13: Drive to Kumasi via Kintampo Falls + Farewell Dinner
We will have an early morning and depart Mole and journey south, stopping at the stunning Kintampo Waterfalls, exploring its multiple stages and canopy walkway before cooling off beneath the cascading falls. After lunch, we check in to our accommodation and relax for the rest of the day.
Upon arrival in Kumasi, we visit Manhyia Palace. In the evening, we have a farewell dinner to celebrate our journey.
Day 14: Explore Kumasi. Fly to Accra. Departure
Spend the morning diving into the Ashanti Empire鈥檚 proud legacy. We will visit the Okomfo Anokye Sword, an unmovable symbol of unity, explore Kejetia Market, the largest open-air market in West Africa, where thousands of traders create a lively and unforgettable atmosphere. We will visit the culture center, have lunch and drive to the airport to fly to Accra where we join our connecting flight back home.
